part2 Lynn

bank loans
Part 2
American dream advocate that all men have certain inalienable right including ‘life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.’ which can be regarded as people's yearning for a better life and pursuit. It can also be regarded as the pursuit of material enjoyment. The American dream only stays in material pursuit and does not rise to the spiritual level. SoI think people use American dream to express them ambition and desire. People can't get real happiness and freedom from it.

In the great GatsbyGatsby can be regarded as the representative of the pursuit of the American dream. Gatsby’s pursuit of the American dream can be seen as his pursuit of Daisy. Gatsby wanted to break the limits of his lineage, and he sought the freedom, life and happiness of the American dream. In the novel, Gatsby pursues the American dream as Daisy. Daisy represents Gatsby’s desire and ambition. Later Gatsby had money and he wanted to reclaim Daisy. Just as people pursue life and happiness in American dreams. Daisy also represents the happy life of Gatsby, the freedom to transcend class and blood restriction, and the high quality of life represented by Daisy. He also wants to use money to break class limits. He even wants money to buy back time and affection. In the process, Gatsby did not get real happiness and freedom. He thought about how to please and chase Daisy every day, but he could not make him happy. At the same time, he was subject to the limits of his lineage. Gatsby did not pursue spiritual freedom. He is confined to matter and past. Gatsby threw a party to invite the old aristocracy to fit in with the old aristocracy. He didn't want to break the class limit. At the same time he was confined to the past, and he wanted to buy back the old days with Daisy.

In the society at that time, people used bank loans to meet their needs in a short time. Loans enable people to satisfy their desires even when their personal abilities are limited. People were pouring money from the Banks to meet the material they couldn't have today. Like a house, a car. This makes people's future life not really happy and free. They worry about how to repay their loans every day. Imprisoned by bank loans.
