New women fight for their basic rights
American Dream is an exhibition of government’s ignorance, since it shows the fact that government actually has racial discrimination regarding social status and human right issue. Female right and racial equality are the idealism pursuit of The American Dream for Brazilian women, especially the black women. The uncertainty of real world as well as the fear of abortion is the main triggers that Black women cannot acquire legal and equal abortion opportunity, and they have had to experience and tolerate gender violence. However, the new women still find it difficult to acquire some basic rights, just like the time in 1920s. From my perspective, I believe that the American Dream of the new women is reachable, because the new women empathize the legalization of abortion, for the sake of protecting their right to fight and minimizing the difference between races. In other words, racial discrimination should be strictly prohibited, and every new woman should be given the same rights, that including the equality of social status and identity.
However, the rights of the new women are still under certain restriction. In the article, for instance, government offers unequal rights to the Black, but not White women. Due to the risk of unsafe abortion, Black women continuous to be the victims of the society’s hypocrisy. Moreover, I want to reclaim that although the women already gain ample respect on the contemporary, Black women’s social status still be limited in some extent. For example, they cannot get rid of the impact of other’s stereotype. Thus, black women cannot fight for their idealized feminism, and government should take action to avoid racial discrimination, focus more on new women’s basic right and social status, and pay attention to the negative effect caused by abortion to women’s physical and mental health.
To sum up, the American Dream can only be described as a utopia for new women. The ignorance of the society includes racial discrimination based on gender equality and women right in society. The necessary measurement needs to be reinforced so as to help not only the Brazilian women but also the new women who are involved in risks and are eager to realize their American Dream to make success.
