Part 2 Mercury

There is no needs for everyone to have same opportunity in order to achieve the American Dream. Instead, people who work harder should have more chance to achieve themselves. In this case, people who have a similar dream may work together and share their experience. Therefore, these people will stay together and build their own community. These community may base on friendship, same purpose or even money in order achieve their same dream.

According to the Great Gatsby, Nick had a rich family which could offer him help. However, he still left his home and came to West Egg for his own purpose. In this story, Nick did not have a great dream but just wanted to work by himself in order to survive. He was asked for help by Gatsby when they knew each other, which means he could ask for any resource include money or network to Gatsby at that moment. However, he did nothing but helped Gatsby by inviting Daisy to his house because he saw Gatsby as his friend.

Although Gatsby became extremely rich in serval years, he still could not achieve his dream alone. As a result, he has to depend on Nick so that he can get closer to Daisy. He tried to build his relationship to Nick by money because he believes that money can solve any problems. Meanwhile, Nick was trying to build his community to Gatsby by friendship. Nick left his home and began his new life as well as Gatsby. Although he was very poor compare to people around him, Nick refused the financial help from Gatsby because he wanted to build a relation base on friendship instead of money. However, after he stayed with Gatsby and other rich people. He lost his individuality and indulged in money. In this case, Nick has to depend on Gatsby in order to enjoy the benefit of money. At this moment, Nick has already lost his community to Gatsby as their relationship is no longer base on friendship. And Nick was not a rich person at all, and the relation between Nick and Gatsby is base on Daisy. Which means as soon as Gatsby achieve his dream, Nick will become meaningless to him. As Nick experience the luxury life, it will be hard for him to go back to his normal life without Gatsby. For Gatsby, he build his community to people by money. It seems that he is succeed as so many people admire him and join his party. But in fact, people only go to Gatsby's party for resource instead of Gatsby himself. As soon as Gatsby no longer offer his resource to public, no one will be close to him.

Compare to the news, editor lists top 10 cities where have more opportunities for people to achieve the American Dream. Actually, people from the Great Gatsby have already stayed together for their own purpose. As a result, the cities which rich people gather together became richer and more prosperous that other cities. In the end, people who born in a poor city will almost have no chance to achieve the American Dream because they have no ability to move out.
